Darrell Simmons

Darrell Simmons, 67, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport.
He was born in Washington County, Tenn., to the late Cecil and Osa Street Simmons.
Darrell was a 1965 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a carpenter and a Charter Member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the East Tennessee Antique Engine Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Dan White and Wanda Simmons.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa White Simmons; his children, Michelle White and husband Harold, Melvin Simmons and wife Becky, and Daniel Simmons; his step-children, Travis Royston and wife Lori, and Lisa Baker and husband Scotty; his brothers, Ralph Simmons and Ray Simmons and wife Sandi; a sister, Sandra Holder and husband Johnny; a sister-in-law, Lisa White; and his grandchildren, Kelsey, Kristopher and Michael Simmons, Joshua White, Cameron and Creed Baker, Kaysi, Caleb and Cash Royston. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Simmons will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, at East Side Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Justin Deaton and the Rev. Gene Fleenor officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 8, in the Patton-Simmons Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, will be Travis Simmons, Mark Simmons, David Holder, Chris Holder, Harold White, Joshua White, Travis Royston, Kristopher Simmons, Scotty Baker and Cameron Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be his special friends, members of the East Tennessee Antique Engine Association, members of the Iron Mountain Engine Club, Wayne Tolley, Lonnie Shell and John Morrison. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at East Side Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence of Lisa Baker. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Darrell to the Food Pantry, East Side Free Will Baptist Church, 704 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
