Don Shirell Keller

Don Shirell Keller, 75, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2014, at 7:45 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his two brothers, Sidney Keller and Ferd Keller, and two of his sisters, Kathleen Sheffield and Christine Sprinkle.
He was born January 20, 1939 in Shell Creek, Tenn., to the late George W. and Grace L. (Hoss) Keller.
Don was a member of the Class of 1957, Elizabethton High School, Elizabethton, Tenn.
Don married his wife of 45 years, Vicki Lynn Wells, on January 11, 1969, in Roan Mountain, Tenn. Don moved to Peru, Ind., in 1966 to manage Clark’s Discount Store, and he retired from Wilson Food Corporation in 1993. Don and his wife also owned and operated Korner Kurl Hair Designs and Ice Cream Parlor on Benton Street for over 15 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Peru, Ind., since 1971.
Don was known for maintaining a well-manicured lawn and garden as this was his passion along with watching NASCAR races and shopping at Menards.
Don is survived by his wife, Vicki, Peru, Ind.; three sisters, Helen Johnston, Johnson City, Tenn., Fredia Proffitt (Gene), Greeneville, Tenn., and Sue Norton (Jim), Albemarle, N.C.; four children, Don and wife Sue, Wabash, Ind., Ron and wife Mindy, Fort Wayne, Ind., Alissa Williford and husband Joel, Peru, Ind., and Kraig Keller, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four grandchildren, Chrissy Baggett (Larry), Wabash, Ind., Wesley Keller, Huntington, Ind., Justin Keller, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kearstynn Goulette, West Lafayette, Ind.; and five great-grandchildren, Adrian Baggett, Abbey Baggett, Alex Baggett, Austin Baggett and Mavrik Keller; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Gracie.
