Robert Tipton Nave

Robert Tipton Nave, 87, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Elbert Vance Nave and Margaret Barnes Nave.
Mr. Nave received his BS Degree from East Tennessee State University and received Master’s Degrees from the University of Tennessee and U.C.L.A. He was a retired school teacher, having taught in Carter County, Florida and California. He was a member of the Watauga Historical Association and enjoyed genealogy.
Mr. Nave was a U.S. veteran, having served in the Air Force and the Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Allen Nave; a niece, Shirley Anne Wandell; and a niece-in-law, Sandra Whitehead Wandell.
Survivors include his sister, Anne N. Hensley and husband Woodward, Elizabethton; two nephews, James Vance Wandell and wife Angela, Elizabethton, and Robert Frank Wandell, Knoxville, Tenn.; a great-niece, Sarah Michelle; and a great-nephew, Michael Wandell and wife Amanda. Many cousins and many friends also survive.
A private service to honor the life of Robert Tipton Nave will be conducted Saturday, January 17, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice. The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Pine Oaks Assisted Living and Hermitage Health Center for their care of Mr. Nave.
