Don Beverly

SALISBURY, N.C. — Garcia N. “Don” Beverly, 77, a resident of Salisbury, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015.
He was born August 21, 1937 in Wise County, Va., to the late Thurston and Vivian Hommell Beverly.
Mr. Beverly was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam, retiring with 20 years of service to his country. After retirement from the Air Force, Don moved from California in 1995 to Elizabethton, Tenn., and later relocated to Salisbury in 2009. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, talking about trucks and cars and making new friends; he never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was a sister, Shirley B. Stanley.
He is survived by his son, Garcia B. Beverly Jr. and his wife Jackie; his brother, Jim Beverly and his wife Merle; his sister, Phyllis Robinson and her husband Earl; four grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Thursday, January 29, at 2 p.m. at Archdale United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Stuart Noell officiating. He will be laid to rest on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn. His family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service in the Wesley Room at the church. Memorials in Don’s memory may be directed to: Archdale United Methodist Church. P.O.
