Miss Billie Elizabeth Gourley, 68, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Mary Bernice Gourley and was born in Roan Mountain. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by an aunt, Norma Surles.
Miss Gourley is survived by six sisters, Jackie Goodwin and her husband, Bob, Roan Mountain, Rhonda Gourley, Kingsport, Vickie Carr and her husband, Ronnie, Watauga, Beatrice Schooley and her husband, Bill, Elizabethton, Betty Alicea, Roan Mountain, and Maradell Hughes and her husband, Richard, Roan Mountain; two brothers, George Gourley and his wife, Joyce, Butler, and Claude Isaacs and his wife, Brenda of Virginia; an aunt, Louise Boone, Roan Mountain; and an uncle, Joe Gourley, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later time. Memorial donations may be made in Miss Gourley’s memory to the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter, P.O.
