Mrs. Verna Lou Buckles, 67, of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Louella Guy Montgomery and Ralph Montgomery and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Brewer, and two brothers, David Montgomery and Jimmy Ward.
Mrs. Buckles was a Home Care Specialist with Silver Angels and was a member of Union Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Dale Buckles, of the home; two sons, Junior Lunceford and Jeffery Lunceford, Elizabethton; three grandsons; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Verna Lou Buckles will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the home at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 5, in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday.
