John William Hill, 73, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at his residence. John was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late John George and Margaret Clever Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret.
Mr. Hill retired from Miller Brewing Company as a supervisor. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and liked gardening, reading and walking. He was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Judy Hill, of the home; five daughters, Tammy Green Kurz and husband David, and Susan Green, all of Elizabethton, Gennie Green Heck and husband Robert, Parkersburg, W.Va., Amy Murphy, Ft. Myers, Fla., and Denise Missi and husband Gary, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; one brother, Charles Hill, Ft. Myers, Fla.; one sister, Carol Taylor, North Ft. Myers, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service to honor the life of John William Hill will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, at Harvest Baptist Church, Elizabethton, with Pastor Mark Garrard officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Services will also be held in Ft. Myers, Fla., at a later date.
