Trula J. Hobbs

Mrs. Trula J. Hobbs, 84, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
A native of Coeburn, Va., she moved to Elizabethton in 1959. She was the daughter of the late Benny and Lula Owens Kennedy.
Mrs. Hobbs was a lifelong member of Rugsby Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Jennings Hobbs; a son-in-law, Jim Banner; a grandson, Jordan Hill; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Hobbs and wife Mitzi, Nelson Hobbs and wife Debbie and Marvin Hobbs; four daughters, Sharon Banner and husband Don Droke, Louise Falter and husband Kevin, Rebecca Colbaugh and her significant other Sonny Carroll and Charlene Hobbs and husband Jeffrey Story; a brother, Allen Kennedy; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and a bunch of cousins also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Trula J. Hobbs will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, February 16, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Jacob Guinn and Rev. Jack Roddy officiating. Music will be under the direction of Singing for the Savior. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the residence of a daughter, Sharon Banner, 510 West D Street, Elizabethton, at other times. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
