Mary Evelyn Gouge Hicks, 89, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Avery and Etta Kelly Gouge.
Mrs. Hicks was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a retired beautician.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Hicks, and by six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Lesli Hicks, Surgoinsville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jeffrey, Joseph, James, Gabriel and Wiley; and a brother, Robert “Bo” Gouge, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services for Mary Evelyn Gouge Hicks will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Warhurst officiating. Interment will follow the service. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Hannah Troutman for taking such good care of her. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday.
