Gladys Montgomery Campbell

Gladys Montgomery Campbell, 91, of Governor’s Bend Assisted Living, formerly of Valley Forge, Siam Community, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Governor’s Bend Assisted Living, following an extended illness.
Gladys was born on February 10, 1924 in Jonesborough, Tenn., a daughter of the late John A. Montgomery Sr. and Corda Ann Irick Montgomery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.E. Campbell; a sister, Pauline Montgomery; and two brothers, George Montgomery and John A. Montgomery Jr.
Mrs. Campbell retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 45 years of service. She was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and had also worked as a custodian at Hampton Elementary School.
Survivors include her great-niece, Aleta Morgan and her husband Scott, Roan Mountain; a niece and nephew, Darlene Price and husband Bill, and Terry “Mud” Montgomery, all of Elizabethton; a son, David Campbell, Watauga, and his children Tabitha and Caitlin Campbell, both of Elizabethton; a sister-on-law, Bonnie Montgomery, Elizabethton; nieces and nephews, Kathy Montgomery and Steve Montgomery, both of Elizabethton, and Mike Montgomery and Don Irick, both of Texas; great-great-nieces and nephews, Collin, Eli, Kaylin and Morgan; and her special friends, David and Loretta Biliter and their children, Crystal and Paige Biliter.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Gladys Montgomery Campbell will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Clay Bailey and Mr. David Seibenaler, ministers, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or friends may call at the home of her great-niece, Aleta Morgan, Roan Mountain, at anytime. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Scott Morgan officiating. Active pallbearers will be Bill Price, Terry Montgomery, David Biliter, Collin Morgan, Eli Morgan and Donald Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Montgomery, Mike Montgomery and Don Irick. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Governor’s Bend Assisted Living for the love and care shown to Mrs. Campbell and her family during her illness; and to her church family of Valley Forge Christian Church.
