Margie Johnson, 90, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at her residence. She was a daughter of the late James Greene Osborne and Chloie Alliefair Osborne and was born in Richlands, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Johnson; two sisters, Virgie Christian and Alliefair Williams; and a brother, Vinnard Osborne.
Margie was of the Baptist faith and loved gardening and music.
Survivors include seven children, Chester Johnson, Grady Johnson and wife, Cathy, Doris Blevins and husband, Zane, Linda Webb and husband, Jerome, David Johnson and wife, Jackie, all of Roan Mountain, Elfreida Trombley and husband, Chip, Johnson City, and Tammy Perry and husband, Paul, Roan Mountain; three special honorary children, Rick Osborne, Elizabethton, Mildred Johnson, Unicoi, and Floyd Odom, Roan Mountain; two sisters, Virlie Weller of Delaware and Shirley Markland of North Carolina; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Margie Johnson will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Jim Storie officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, prior to the funeral service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Earn Johnson Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Zane Blevins, Paul Perry, Chip Trombley, Jerome Webb, Matt Chatman, Heath Ball, Daniel Rainbolt and Jamie Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Black and Beecher Holtsclaw. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would life to extend a special thank you to Caris Healthcare, Cathy Johnson, Cherrie Blevins, Kelly Clark, Angie Jones and Justin Garland, for their love and care shown to Margie during her illness.
