An Elizabethton man is being sought in connection with two burglaries, and police are asking for the public’s help in locating him.
On Friday afternoon, the Elizabethton Police Department announced it was looking for Robert Michael Scott, 23, who is wanted on outstanding warrants. The warrants were issued in connection with two separate burglaries in the city.
Scott is charged with aggravated assault and attempted aggravated burglary related to an incident on Feb. 28 in which a city resident reported he was inside his home when he heard someone attempting to get inside.
“The homeowner went outside and observed subjects who appeared to be fleeing the area on foot,” EPD Capt. Joy Shoun said in a news release. “The homeowner reported that he was able to make contact with one of the subjects, and stated that the subject displayed a handgun and threatened him. The subject displaying the handgun was identified as Scott.”
The second incident Scott is charged with occurred on March 11. Warrants have been issued charging Scott with burglary and theft of property over $500 in connection with the burglary of a city business where several firearms were reported stolen.
“Evidence obtained during the investigation indicates that Scott was involved in that incident,” Shoun said.
If anyone has information about the whereabouts of Robert Michael Scott, they are asked to contact the Elizabethton Police Department at (423)542-4141, or tips can also be reported through the Crime Stoppers Tips Line at (423)542-7574.
