Sue Barnette, 73, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at her residence. A native of Carter County, Mrs. Barnette was a daughter of the late Conley and Blanche Heaton Holtsclaw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Jack W. Barnette, on February 5, 2011, and two infant brothers.
Mrs. Barnette was a homemaker and attended Gray’s Chapel. She enjoyed working in her flowers, her yard and loved her pets.
Survivors include two sons, Justin Barnette and Gordon Barnette and wife Bridgette, all of Roan Mountain; four grandchildren, Jaci McCoy, Newland, N.C., and Landon Barnette, Dawson Barnette and Jenna Barnette, all of Roan Mountain; one sister, Ruth Roberts, Johnson City; and one brother, Conley “Johnny” Holtsclaw and wife Sandy, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive, as well as her special friends, Helen Aldridge and Sue Heaton.
A service to honor the life of Sue Barnette will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Mr. Cliff Dameron, minister, and Rev. Randy English officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow in the Heaton-Holtsclaw Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
