Helen Baskin

Mrs. Helen Baskin, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Lakebridge Health Care Center. She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Fred and Glada Bailey Casey.
Mrs. Baskin was retired from the V.A. Medical Center Hospital where she had worked in nursing. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Johnson City.
Mrs. Baskin enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Baskin Sr., in 1979; two daughters, Teresa Halbedel and Kathy Diane Baskin; two brothers, Maynard and James Casey; and also a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth E. Baskin Jr. and wife Paula, Johnson City; four grandchildren, David Ricker and Jason Ricker, both of Boone, N.C., Joe Halbedel and wife Christy, Charlotte, N.C., and Casey Baskin, Johnson City; seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Brittany, Brett, Ben and Sydney Ricker, Savannah Halbedel and Kaitlyn Halbedel; a nephew, Robert Casey and wife Buffy, Johnson City; a great-nephew, Cole Casey; also other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Baskin will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 201 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, with Pastor Steven L. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Condolences may be made online at www.wadugger.com.
