Preston Carrico

Preston Carrico, 72, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Preston was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Clarence P. Carrico and Lula Morris Carrico. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Perry; six sisters, Katrina Carrico Jaynes and her husband, Alvin Jaynes, Henrietta Carrico Eggers and her husband, Bob “William” Eggers, Lois Carrico Grindstaff and her husband, Paul Grindstaff, Frenchie Carrico Russell and her husband, Bill “William” Russell, Katherine Carrico and Nancy Carrico; three brothers, Clarence P. Carrico Jr., Leslie Carrico and George Carrico; and one brother-in-law, Jack Guinn.
Mr. Carrico retired after 41 years as a truck driver for the City of Elizabethton. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and enjoyed traveling.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Christine H. Carrico, of the home; a son, Eddie Arrowood and wife Brenda, Elizabethton; a daughter, Rhondia Roberts and husband Jerry, Elizabethton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Carrico Guinn and Monica Carrico Lunceford and husband Roger; two brothers, Allen Carrico and Howell Carrico and wife Penny; multiple nieces and nephews; two stepsons, Paul McKinney and wife JoAnn, Roan Mountain, and Merle McKinney and wife Helen, Burnsville, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Tina Joyce Hoyle and husband Keith, Burnsville, N.C.; and one sister-in-law, Tennia Arwood.
A service to honor the life of Preston Carrico will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. David Seibenaler and Mr. Merle McKinney, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Eddie Arrowood. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Terry Guinn, Mark Carrico, Sam Carrico, David Guinn, Johnny Guinn, Aaron White, Edward Grindstaff and R.L. Hambrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Ray Simerly, Ray Arwood, Brandon Arrowood and Wesley Campbell. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 9:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession.
