Douglas James Hurley

Douglas James Hurley, 41, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Joliet, Ill., he had lived in Elizabethton since 1983. He attended Happy Valley High School and Northeast State. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Douglas loved poetry and crafts.
He was preceded in death by a special aunt,Patty Hunt.
Survivors include his mother, Patty Hurley, Hampton; two sisters, Lisa Slone and husband Steven, and Angela Ashley, all of Elizabethton; two brothers, Anthony Hurley and wife Sherry and William Hurley, all of Elizabethton; a special friend, Rachel Chesser Snipes; and 15 nieces and nephews, Dakota, Lucas, Logan, Tyler, Taylor, Nicholas, Chance, Brooke, Bryanna, Cameron, Alex, Blake, Avery, Ashton and Kyndall.
Funeral services for Mr. Hurley will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, April 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Ritchie Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dakota Ashley, Lucas Hurley, Logan Slone, Tyler Hurley, Taylor Hurley, Nicholas Hurley, Chance Ashley and Cameron Slone. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Steven Slone, 211 S.
