Judy Ann Guy Simerly, 68, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Dayton B. and Elsie Jenkins Guy.
Judy was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a homemaker and loved to cook. She was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Guy.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Steve Simerly; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and John Mallery, Chuckey, and Melinda and Jeff Greene, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Jonathan and Joshua Mallery and Angel Greene; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Harry Woods, Elizabethton; a nephew, Job Woods and wife Kim, Bluff City; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Guy, Johnson City.
Funeral services for Judy Ann Guy Simerly will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dennis Wilson officiating. Music will be provided by Frank Eads. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in the Simerly Cemetery (Valley Forge). Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Jonathan Mallery, Joshua Mallery, John Hayes, Terry Leonard, Job Woods, Ray Greene, Danny Davis, Danny Williams and Paul Bellamy. Honorary pallbearer will be Dayton Jones. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of 2600 and 2800 Unit of the Johnson City Medical Center and to the many friends and neighbors who stood by them during this difficult time. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Simerly to the Building Fund, Lynn Valley Baptist Church, 1367 Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
