Greg Pierce, 51, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Mr. Pierce was a son of Lawrence and Eula Rogers Pierce and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Harry Rogers, and his paternal grandparents, Burna and Roy Pierce.
Mr. Pierce was the Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President of Whitehead Construction. He was an avid supporter of all Carter County and Elizabethton city schools athletic programs and was a supporter of many other organizations. He was also the owner and operator of David’s Trophies. He will be remembered for his generous heart in the community. He gave anything and everything he could with no expectation of return.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancée, and the love of his life, Julie S. Bradley, Elizabethton; a brother, Jeff Pierce and his wife, Kathy; a sister, Robin Carpenter; a special nephew, Michael Carpenter, all of Elizabethton; a step-niece, Mary Orrand and her family, Asheville, N.C.; a step-nephew, John Orrand, his wife, Cristel, and their family, Raleigh, N.C.; his first cousin and special friend, Judy Couch, Johnson City; a special little buddy, Rylan Crabtree; and his special pet and companion, Junior.
A graveside service for Mr. Pierce will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Gary Roe officiating. Active pallbearers will be Houston Combs, Mike Whitehead, Mike Carpenter, Jason Bowling, Steve Keeble, Shawn Witten, Jeff Anderson and Tommy Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Deal, Dean Pierce, Lawrence T. Pierce, Mike Ensor, Stephen Buckles, Keith Glover, Tyler McMullins, Daniel Holder, Josh Rasnick, Nick Holder, Dallas Pierce, Michael Collins and the employees of Whitehead Construction. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Friends may call at the home of his parents, Lawrence and Eula Pierce, at any time. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Carter County Humane Society, P.O.
