TSGT Darrell Peeks

TSGT Darrell Peeks, U.S. Air Force (Retired), 83, of Gray, went home to be with his Lord and join his family on Monday, April 20, 2015, from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tennessee.
Mr. Peeks was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Roy L. Peeks and Maude Rash Peeks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine “Dean” Peters Peeks, on June 24, 2011; two sons, Lanny Peeks and Roy “Lucky” Peeks; his twin brother, Harold Peeks; and his sister, Evelyn Peeks.
Mr. Peeks retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service and also retired as a security officer from the Veterans Administration. He served in both the Korean War and during the Vietnam Era. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, feeding and watching birds from his back porch, and watching sports.
Those left to cherish his memory include five daughters, Denise Yontz and Charisse Peeks, both of Gray, Tenn., Tina Vaughn and husband Larry and Evelyn Keller, all of Elizabethton, and Patty Osborne and husband Mark, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Amy, Dustin, Kaleb, David and Kaitlyn; five great-grandchildren, Tristan, Chandler, Hannah, Jami and Daniel; and a special daughter (number 6), Sue Hollifield.
A service to honor the life of TSGT Darrell Peeks, U.S. Air Force (Retired), will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Danny Blevins officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sandy Keller. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Mark Osborne, Larry Vaughn, Dustin Peeks, Kaleb Peeks, David Osborne and Harold Keller. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday.
