Marylyn Miller Birchfiel

Marylyn Miller Birchfiel, 90, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Marylyn was born in Unicoi, Tenn., a daughter of the late George Washington Miller and Myrtle Paul Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Birchfiel; two sisters, Alleene Geisler and Mary Nell Vance; and a brother, O.R. Miller.
Mrs. Birchfiel retired from Citizens Bank and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing and working in her yard.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Cindy Fair and husband Dale, Elizabethton; two sons, Wally Birchfiel and wife Serena, Knoxville, and George Birchfiel and wife Bo Kite, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Julie Harris and husband Jason, Justin Fair, Josh Fair and wife Lara, and Spencer Birchfiel; four great-grandchildren, Kate Harris, Ava Harris, Cooper Fair and Hudson Fair; a sister, George Ann Holly, Anderson, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Felecia Miller, Stanford, Conn.; and a brother-in-law, Bob Vance, Erwin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A gathering of remembrance for Mrs. Marylyn Miller Birchfiel will be conducted from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 24, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services. The committal and entombment will be held in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Judy and Victor Deloach and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for all the love and care extended to Marylyn. Also, a special thank you to the family of Ruth Elliott and to Kathleen Harmon and family.
