Emilie Hoss Winters Greene

Emilie Hoss Winters Greene, 78, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away peacefully in Hospice in Kingsport, Tenn., on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. She was born in Shell Creek, Tenn., to Edward Hoss and Essie Perry Hoss, both now deceased.
Emilie attended Cloudland High School and completed one year of classes at ETSU. She was retired from the Dietetics Department of the VAMC in Johnson City.
From her marriage to James Walter Winters Jr., she is survived by two daughters, Angelic “Angie” Winters and her husband Everett Jones, M.D., of Kingsport, Tenn., and Kim Combs of Richmond, Va. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, her pride and joy, Claire and Audrey Jones.
Emilie had five siblings. Surviving her are her two sisters, Willie Douglas, Elizabethton, and Sandra Shell, Gray, and two brothers, Robert Hoss, Elizabethton, and Kenneth Hoss, Greeneville. She was predeceased by her oldest brother, Billy Joe Hoss, Johnson City, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In 1979, Emilie married Hughey L. Greene of Johnson City, Tenn. He passed away in 2012, leaving behind two sons from his first marriage, Harold Greene of Johnson City and John Greene of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Emilie loved gardening, cooking, caring for her family, spending time with her grandchildren and caring for her Yorkie, Fergie.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, May 1, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 212 North Main Street in Elizabethton, Tenn.
