James William Braswell Jr., 83, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late James William Braswell Sr. and Myrtle Hyder Braswell.
Mr. Braswell served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired truck driver for Brick Delivery, Johnson City. He was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Adeina Reed and Sabrina Roper; three brothers, Tyler, Mac and Gene Braswell; and two sisters, Leone and Francis Braswell.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Wilma Morton Braswell; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Garland and husband Keith; his grandchildren, James Richardson, Amy Richardson Hicks and husband Joe, Amanda Carr, Brandon Roper, Star Bowers and Ricky Bowers; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for James William Braswell Jr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Street officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 14, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, will be Larry Whitehead, Wayne Whitehead, Keith Garland, Joe Hicks, James Richardson and Scotty Parlier. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Stevens, Richard Stevens, Adam Milhorn and Dale White. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
