Cloudland High to graduate 41 seniors on Friday

Cloudland High School will host its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2015 at 7 p.m. Friday in the school’s gymnasium.
Carter County Board of Education member LaDonna Boone will speak at the ceremony.
School Guidance Counselor Bonnie Peters praised the members of the graduating class for their hard work and commitment.
“They are a great bunch of students,” she said.
Fourty-one seniors will graduate from Cloudland this year.
Valedictorians for the Class of 2015 are Bailee Church, Matthew Houston and Faith Russell, all of whom will graduate with a 4.0 grade point average. No Salutatorian was named for the class. Those three students along with Zachary Benfield make up the Top Ten Percent of the graduating class.
Among the graduating class, several of the seniors earned scholarships and other recognitions for their achievements.
Four of the seniors — Erica Birchfield, Tony Corley, Wesley Elder, Nathan Hicks — were named Tennessee Scholars.
Graduating with Honors will be Lakota Oxendine, Wesley Elder and Russell. Graduating with Distinction will be Houston and Russell
After graduation, the majority of Cloudland’s Class of 2015 will be continuing their education at another institution.
“We have 41 graduating seniors and all but four of them are going somewhere, whether it be the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, Northeast State or a four-year college,” Peters said.
