Freda Kay Creed Birchfield

Freda Kay Creed Birchfield, 68, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center. Freda was born on May 1, 1947, a daughter of the late Frank J. Creed and Evelyn Bessie Toney Creed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arden Birchfield, on January 31, 1993.
Mrs. Birchfield was a resident of Washington County, but had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Roan Mountain. She liked bingo, collecting stuffed animals and working word puzzles.
Survivors include a daughter, DeEtta Henson and husband Wesley, Roan Mountain; two grandsons, Michael Henson and Brady Henson, both of Roan Mountain; and a brother, Larry J. Creed and wife Carolyn, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive, as well as her special friends, Lisa Poole, Becky and Tommy Lewis, June and Herman Henson, Tracy Townsend and Sara Hardin.
A graveside service to honor the life of Freda Kay Creed Birchfield will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Richard Stout and Rev. John McCoury officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends and family. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, prior to the graveside service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of Roan Highlands Nursing Center for the love and care shown to Mrs. Birchfield during her illness.
