Ethel “Lucille” Grindstaff

Ethel “Lucille” Grindstaff, 84, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Pine Ridge Care Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eliza Bowers Williams.
Lucille was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Herman Robinson Vocational Training Center. She retired from the Carter County School System after 26 years of service. She was a member of Hunter United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and enjoyed her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen “Wesley” Grindstaff; three children, Winona, Michael and Gloria; and a brother, Ellis “Leg” Williams of Elizabethton.
Survivors include three daughters, Ramona (Ted) Taylor, Glenda (Dewey) Oliver and Daisy Loretta Grindstaff, all of Elizabethton; a son, Kyman Grindstaff of Johnson City; eight grandchildren, Faleana Bowers, Gloria (Terry) Morrison, Clayton Grindstaff, Sharon Duckett, Blake (Rachael) Taylor, James W. Vines, Jessica Richardson and Emaleth Grindstaff; 16 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Mary Lou Bowers, Mary Alice Anderson and Eliza Carden.
Funeral services for Ethel “Lucille” Grindstaff will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Herman Crumley and the Rev. Brian Smith officiating. Music will be provided by Ida Mae Campbell and Charlotte Crumley. Interment will follow in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be James Vines, Ted Taylor, Dewey Oliver, Blake Taylor, Clayton Grindstaff, Terry Morrison, Sherril Bowers, Ernie Bowers, Fayne Bowers, Carl Anderson and Isaiah Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Walter, Dr. Steven May and Dr. Fawwaz Hamati. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff at Pine Ridge Health Center. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday and also at the home of her daughter, Glenda Oliver, at anytime.
