Kelvin Denton Strode

Kelvin Denton Strode, 64, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his residence. He was a native of Johnson City and a son of the late Earl Denton and Verna Honeycutt Strode.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Brenda Thompson and husband Jim Thompson, and Ann Cooper.
Kelvin was devoted to his family. He had a big heart as he was always helping others. Kelvin enjoyed working on cars, spending time with his family and his pets. He was an owner of a car lot in the past.
Kelvin was of the Free Will Baptist faith and enjoyed listening to gospel music.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lakie Frazier Strode; daughter, Pamela Scalf and husband Delaney; son, Frank Frazier and wife Angela; grandchildren, Tyler and Madison Scalf, Amber, Brandon and Heather Frazier, Brittany Collins, Joann Lane, Mindy Colon, Cody, Corey and J.D. Scalf; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernadean Hughes and husband Kevin, Wanda Taylor and husband Jerry, and Marlene Serverson; brothers, Ray Strode and Jeff Strode; father-in-law, Bobby Carter; special friends, Lloyd and Bobie Meyers, and their son Ben Meyers; special nephew, Chris Thompson; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends on Sunday from 5 p.m. until a Celebration of Kelvin’s Life at 7 p.m. in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City. A graveside and committal service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Bob Bowling, Terry Veatch and Dr. Kenneth Hopland will be honorary pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 a.m. Monday.
