JOHNSON CITY — Billy Joe Trent, 77, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 1, 2015.
He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was a deacon of Unity Fellowship Church, Elizabethton
Bill was the greenskeeper for 43 years at the Johnson City Country Club. He sang gospel music for 40 plus years with the Gospel Trio and The Determinations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Maudie Trent; brother, Roy Trent; and sister, Ina Hurley.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Trent; step-son, Randy Taylor and his wife, Vickie; step-daughter, Lana Cash; sisters, Margaret Wallace and Patsy Wagner and her husband, Richard; grandchildren, Sean Taylor, Heather Teaster, Charles Cash Jr. and his fiancée Courtney Garland, and Dustin Cash; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at Unity Fellowship Church, 907 Cedar Avenue, Elizabethton (formerly known as Prayer Tabernacle), with Rev. Greg Wagner and Rev. Doug Wagner officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church from 5 p.m. until the service hour. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those desiring to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. Pallbearers will be Sean Taylor, Sean Taylor II, Tristan Ross, Charles Cash Jr., Dustin Cash, Jonathan Halman, Jimmy Halman and Gene Wallace. Members of Unity Fellowship Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
