Thomas M. Tyree

Thomas M. Tyree, 70, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Fred Crumley and Virginia June Davis.
Mr. Tyree was a 1964 graduate of Elizabethton High School and a retired cross country truck driver. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church.
Mr. Tyree was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the N.R.A.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frankie Crumley Congram.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jeanette Sorrell Tyree, of the home; a son, James A. Tyree and wife Christy, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter, Remington, Bailey and Madison; and a sister, Ruby Crumley Dillon, Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Thomas M. Tyree will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Biggs officiating. Active pallbearers will be the Carter County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Vaughn, Robert Holdren, Nick Holtsclaw, Steve Sorrell, Dale Norris and Richard Ensor. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the graveside service, or at his residence at anytime. Those attending the graveside service will meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. David Wiles and staff, Dr. Devapiran Jashanker and staff, Dr. John Dengler and staff, Vanessa Coughman, Johnson City Internal Medicine, Anna Ruth Pierce and John Whitson.
