Muriel Jean Carter Turbyfill

Muriel Jean Carter Turbyfill, 90, of Watauga, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Charles C. and Lillian Ellis Carter.
Mrs. Turbyfill was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of Borderview Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Doyle Turbyfill, who died June 9, 2013; a son, Jerry Kenneth Turbyfill, who died June 25, 2008; a grandson, Michael C. Davis, who died August 11, 2010; a son-in-law, I.B. Davis, who died June 10, 2009; two brothers, Darrell and Blaine Carter; and a sister, Naomi Carr.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Beverly and Craig Murray and Sharran Davis; a daughter-in-law, Rita Turbyfill, Wellford, S.C.; a grandson and his wife, Christopher and Kristi Davis; a granddaughter and her husband, Stephanie and Kevin Hyder, Wellford, S.C.; two great-grandsons, Jackson Thomas Hyder and Preston Isaac Davis; and two great-granddaughters, Karrigan Hannah Davis and Brylee Noel Davis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Turbyfill will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Scott Fisher, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by Ray Don Markland and Scott Reynolds. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Matt Murray, Charlie Murray, Beecher O’Quinn, Preston Davis, Harold Hicks and Lawrence Ritchie. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Hicks, George Williams, Jack Williams and her church family. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4255. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. Sunday until the service hour. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy and Victor Deloach and the entire staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the excellent care our mother received.
