William Walter Howard, 87, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Carolyn Nash Howard, on Monday, June 8, 2015, from his residence.
Epitome of sweetness. This describes Bill Howard. He was one who truly wanted to serve and help others. He was a devoted husband of 67 years to Carolyn, who recently passed away. He served his family by being a loving husband and father, his country by serving in the Navy, his church as a Deacon, his community as a Banker, Loan Officer, Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce member. He was very involved in helping with Congressman Duncan’s campaign for many years. He loved to play golf and cut up with his family. He is finally with his love again for all eternity and above all with the Lord.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Halmond and Mary Howard, his brother, Lawton, and his sister, Mary Lou Witt.
Those left to cherish Bill’s memory include his children, Melissa Thornton and husband Jim; son, Tim Howard; grandchildren, Lauren Colmer and husband Nathan, James Thornton and wife Kelly, and Justin Thornton; great-grandchildren, Lavender, Dorian, Jackson, Lily and Natalia; brothers and their wives, Bob and Ginny, Larry and Shirley, Rod and Helen, and Edwin and Emma Lou; sisters, Betty Boruff and Dorcas Haws; many special nieces and nephews and the entire Nash family; and special friends, Congressman and Mrs. John Duncan, Frank and Betty Mustard and Bob Griffitts.
