Lester Blaine Birchfield

Lester Blaine Birchfield, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Birchfield was born in Roan Mountain, Tenn., to the late William and Lillie B. Brewer Birchfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; five brothers; and two granddaughters, Susan Hope Southerland and Kathy Elizabeth Baumgardner.
Mr. Birchfield retired as a truck driver for Strickland Transportation in Chicago, Ill. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, painting, collecting model cars and knives.
Survivors include his wife, Texas Howard Birchfield, of the home; four daughters, Imogene Briggs, Bonnie Stonecipher, Lillie Estep and Kathryn Birchfield and her husband Charles Greer; one son, Lester Blaine Birchfield Jr.; seven grandchildren, Jerry W. Stonecipher Jr., Texas E. Birchfield and husband Ricky Eaddy, Jody Stonecipher, Aaron Scott Johnson and wife Monica, Jacqueline Stonecipher, Johnathan Estep and Cheryl Birchfield; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, or at the residence at any time. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Lester Blaine Birchfield will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Buddy Street officiating. The graveside service will follow in the Birchfield Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Aaron Scott Johnson, Ricky Eaddy, Jeremy Southerland, Jerry Stonecipher, Jody Stonecipher and Jonathan Estep.
