Myrtle Marie Guinn Elliott

Myrtle Marie Guinn Elliott, 92, of Roan Mountain, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Iva Lee and Bruce Dingler, Summerville, S.C., following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Blanche Arnett Guinn. She had lived in South Carolina for the past seven years. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Elliott was a member of Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard C. Elliott, who died June 1, 2008, a sister, Sarah Whitehead; and two brothers, George and Otis Guinn.
Survivors include her three daughters, Iva Lee Dingler and husband Bruce, Summerville, S.C., Bernice Lewis and husband Charlie, Jonesborough, and Helen Reed and husband Timothy, Goose Creek, S.C.; her grandchildren, Johnathan Shipley, Kenneth Reed, Kee Reed, Debbie Goins, Linda Rogers, Laura Dingler and Bruce Dingler Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Wanda Pate, Lee McKinney and Dorothy Forbes; and a brother, Thomas Guinn.
Funeral services for Myrtle Marie Guinn Elliott will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tull Oaks and the Rev. Greg Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in the Captain Nelson Cemetery. Music will be provided by Dale and Denise Cunningham. Active pallbearers will be Danny Blevins, Joe Orr, Dudley Mahan, Bruce Dingler Jr., Frank Highsmith and John Stevens; her special friends on Ripshin Mountain: Jimmy and Ruth Orr, Bill and Barbara Ballard, Billy and Ivalee Morgan, Jack Ingram, Bobby Teague, Leon Whitehead and Dan Shipley; and her church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Iva Lee and Bruce for the excellent care she received, also the nursing staff, Diane, Gail, Doris, Cheryl, Retia and all caregivers over the years and also Agape Hospice. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Elliott to the Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church (Ripshin Mountain), Roan Mountain, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 207 N.
