Loretta Elizabeth Stephens Nowlin

Loretta Elizabeth Stephens Nowlin, 93, Johnson City, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at her residence, after an extended illness. A native of Jenkins, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Robert M. Stephens and Margaret Brennan Stephens. She was a graduate of Jenkins High School. She had lived in Carter County since 1946. Mrs. Nowlin was a homemaker. She was a member of the University Parkway Baptist Church, was formerly a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church for over 40 years and presently attended Milligan Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Nowlin was a member of the Johnson City Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Jack Nowlin, Sr. by three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her children: Pat Gouge, Lana & Malcolm McKinney, Jack Nowlin, Jr. and Cheryl Nowlin all of Johnson City. Grandchildren include: Mike Gouge, Tony and Marsha Gouge, Amy Gouge, Tessa and Robbie Long, Rick and Donna McKinney, Chris and Sherry Nowlin, Alex Riddle, and T.J. Ingle. Great Grandchildren include: Katie and Emily Nowlin, Brianne Gouge, Phillip and Richie Gouge, Madison and Abbi McKinney, Curtis McKeehan, Josh Templeton, Timothy and Autumn Ingle, Brian Long, and Jordan Bishop. Four Great Great Grandchildren. Her Brother: Sam Stephens, Baltimore, Maryland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Street officiating. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Rev. Chris Hughes and April Pittman .Active Pallbearers will be Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Milligan Free Will Baptist Church, 1471 Milligan Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601. The family would like to express their gratitude to all members of the Elizabethton Amedisys Hospice for their excellent care of Mrs. Nowlin.
