Ruth “Aunt Ruth” Morelock

Ruth “Aunt Ruth” Morelock, 82, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Select Medical Hospital in Bristol, Tenn., following a brief illness. Ruth was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late George and Vada Joines Cornett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Morelock; two sons, James Dale and Bobby Joe Sanders; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Morelock had worked as the night manager at Village East Apartments for 14 years and was of the Baptist faith. She loved cooking, canning and gardening.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Carter and husband Paul, of Kingsport, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Carolyn Starnes and husband Ken, of Georgia, Jimmy Sanders and Leslie Brickey, both of Elizabethton, Tenn.; six great-grandchildren, Stephen and Ashley Brickey, both of Elizabethton, Tenn., Kennedy and Whitley Starnes, both of Georgia, and Jesse and Laci Gossett, both of Kingsport, Tenn.; and two great-great-grandchildren, Ellington and Elanor Gossett, both of Kingsport, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruth “Aunt Ruth” Morelock will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Mr. Steve Wilson, minister, officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Friday. Friends may call at Tetrick Funeral Home, 211 North Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, Tenn., at their convenience, any time before the service, to sign the guest book. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers are asked to make donations to their local church.
