Charles Jon “Chuck” Kachelries

Charles Jon “Chuck” Kachelries, 61, of Johnson City, (A.K.A. radio personality “Chuck Johnson”), passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015, at his residence after an extended illness with his wife, Mary, at his side.
Born in Warren, Ohio on February 10, 1954 to the late John E. and Wilma Comer Kachelries, he had lived in East Tennessee for the past 19 years.
Chuck began his career in broadcasting at age 14. He worked for many years in radio in several states, the last ones being WXBQ, WQUT and WKOS. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Mary Burgess Kachelries; two daughters, Mrs. James (Rebecca) Oliver, Jenkins, Ky., and Mrs. Alton (Kimberly) Fleming, Millstone, Ky.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services for Charles Jon “Chuck” Kachelries will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mary would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Sycamore Shoals Hospital and the special nurses of Mountain States Hospice and his medical care, Dr. Kenneth Hopland.
