Carol was born July 8, 1954 in Elizabethton. She spent most of her adult life in Virginia assisting the elderly. She was called home February 15, 2015, after a courageous battle with hepatic cancer.
She is survived by her life partner: George Williams; sons: Carlos (Kim) Cox and Jonathan (Sonya) Staples, all of Virginia; grandchildren: Ethan, Wesley, Anthony, Katlyn, Anthony, Merrix and Iyana; her father: William Bartz Jr.; brothers: Bob (Glenda) Hyatt, David (Chris) Bartz, Earl Cox and Paul (Martha Lou) Cox, all of Elizabethton; sisters: Gail Campbell (Johnson City), Debby (David) Carlson (Michigan) and Ruby Woods (Elizabethton); aunts: Betty Ralph (Elizabethton), Eve Febuary (Virginia), Beverly Smith (New York) and Sue Bartz (Kentucky); uncles: John Febuary (Virginia) and Brian Bartz Sr. (South Carolina); along with many friends, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Waits (Emma) Febuary and William (Mildred) Bartz Sr.; mother: June Bartz; brothers: Charles (Mary Lou) Hyatt and Joe Woods Sr.; uncles: Frank Febuary, Charlie (Viola) Febuary, Morris (Joyce) Febuary, Stewart (Nellie) Febuary, Lee Ralph, Gideon Smith, Bruce Bartz, Roy Cox and John (Annabell) Cox; aunts: Margie (Milferd) Lobsack and Charlie Jane Febuary; along with Pearl Cox and Joe Woods Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Slagle’s Methodist Church on July 25 at 10 a.m.
