Joann H. Pritchard, 79, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, from Hillview Health Center. Joann was born in Butler, Tenn., to the late Joseph “Joe” Hackney and Lena Faye Payne Hackney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman William Pritchard, on December 19, 2002, and two brothers.
Mrs. Pritchard was a homemaker and had retired as a CNA. She attended Zion Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Pritchard, of Elizabethton, and Michael Pritchard, of Watauga; four grandchildren, Tyler Pritchard, Alisha Yontz, Taylor Medina and Rikki Price; and four great-grandchildren, McKinley Pritchard, Christian Pritchard, Jesse Pritchard and Addison Price. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Joann H. Pritchard will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, August 7, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Doug Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence of a son, Rick Pritchard, at any time. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, August 10, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Phillip Campbell, Teddy Greenwell, Larry Leach, Jerry Lyons, Sam Lyons and Bruce Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Joann’s friends and neighbors. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 9 a.m. Monday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hillview Health Center and Staff for all their love and care extended to Mrs. Pritchard and her family.
