Layla Dawn Rodgers, 39, of Jonesborough, went home to be with her Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, August 1, 2015, from Johnson City Medical Center. Layla was a native of Carter County and the daughter of Tommy Chappell and Tracy Greer.
Layla was a former customer service representative for Frontier Health and was a member of Unaka Baptist Church of Elizabethton. She was a wonderful mother and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her father, Tommy Chappell, of Elizabethton; her mother, Tracy Greer, of Johnson City; her husband, Chris Rodgers, of the home; her twin children, daughter, Lakeisha Blevins, of the home, and son, Logan Blevins, of Elizabethton; her infant son, Elias Rodgers, of the home; her mother and father-in-law, Gordon and Kate Rodgers, of Elizabethton; and her brother, Jerry Chappell, of Bluff City.
A service to celebrate the memory of Layla Dawn Rodgers will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 8, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 10, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her son, Logan Blevins, her brother, Jerry Chappell, Mark Taylor, Dwayne Fair, Kevin Collier and Christian Rodgers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at noon Monday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU Unit of the Johnson City Medical Center for the love and care extended to the Rodgers family.
