A Hampton woman entered a guilty plea in Criminal Court on Friday to charges she sexually abused her three young daughters.

Crystal Renee Dawn Poore, 34, of Hampton, entered a guilty plea to one count of aggravated rape of a child, two counts of rape of a child and three counts of incest and received an effective sentence of 40 years to be served at 100 percent, which means she would not be eligible for parole.
On the count of aggravated rape of a child she was sentenced to 40 years at 100 percent. On each of the two counts of rape of a child she received a sentence of 25 years and she received 3 years sentences for each of the three charges of incest.
All of the sentences Poore received on Friday will run concurrently with each other but she will not begin serving time of those convictions until after she completes her federal sentence of 27 years after pleading guilty in federal court last year to three counts of production of child pornography.
Federal prison sentences are not eligible for parole so Poore must serve the full 27 years in federal custody before returning to Tennessee to begin serving her 40 years. With an effective sentence of 67 years on all cases, Poore will be about 100 years old when her time is complete at 100 percent served.
While Poore’s sentence makes her ineligible for parole, she will be able to earn a limited amount of “good time” credit on her state sentence.
Should she ever be released from custody, Poore will be required to register as a sexual offender and remain under lifetime supervision
Poore also faced one additional count of rape of a child, one additional count of incest and eight counts of aggravated sexual battery but those charges were dropped as part of her plea agreement.
Friday was Poore’s first appearance in Carter County Criminal Court on the charges and Judge Stacy Street arraigned her before allowing her to enter a guilty plea.
After accepting Poore’s plea, Street said he wanted to give her what may be her “last chance” to speak to the court to explain her crimes or make any statement about them.
“Why did you do this to your own daughters,” Street asked her.
Poore, who spoke her reply softly, said she had no explanation for why she did what she had done.
“Ms. Poore’s own history itself is tragic,” said Assistant Public Defender Melanie Sellers, who as appointed to represent Poore, adding the woman had been removed from her own home as a child. “So often we learn that people who turn out to be abuses have been abused themselves. I won’t go into the details, but there is a history there, but I don’t know how relevant it is.”
While the prosecution acknowledged Poore may have had a troubled childhood, they contended it was not the only motivation behind the crimes she committed.
“Regardless of her upbringing, it is the state’s opinion that at least some of this was done for financial gain,” Assistant District Attorney General Janet Hardin said.
The investigation which led to both the state and federal charges against Poore began in July 2013 when the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of the Knoxville Police Department received two cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Both of those tips were submitted to the center by Google Inc., regarding a Google/Picasa account it said contained nearly 70 images believed to be child pornography.
According to federal court documents, Poore admitted to investigators that the photographs featured images of her children — who were ages 2, 6 and 8 at the time of the abuse — and admitted she had taken the photographs.
