Molly Shannon O’Rourke Woodruff

Ms. Molly Shannon O’Rourke Woodruff, 66, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 7, 2015.
Ms. Woodruff was born in Logansport, Ind., on July 20, 1949. She was the daughter of the late John Patrick and Mary Henry O’Rourke and step-father William Branch. She moved to Roan Mountain, Tenn., in the mid 1990s to be with her family and came to love the beauty and people of the mountains. Ms. Woodruff volunteered at Cloudland Elementary School where she took pride in helping students with their reading and was so proud to see them graduate. She was a very compassionate and giving person and she loved all of her animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her brother, Frank O’Rourke.
She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Morgan, and her grandchildren, J.D. Morgan, Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Jessica and her husband Shane Younce, and great-grandchild, Karaline Serenity Younce, all of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a brother, Tim O’Rourke of Steward, Ala.; her sister, Maureen MaCaby of Lake Cicott, Ind.; and special family members, Tom and Sam Clawson and Bess Allen of Roan Mountain, Tenn.
She was a loving, giving and resourceful woman, who had a zest for life. Even when times were rough, she never gave up, and was happier the last days of her life than any other time. She felt very blessed and told everyone she knew. Molly was the epitome of persistence. She was loved by all and a void is left without her. She will be dearly missed. We love you Miss Molly.

There will be no formal funeral services, however the family will receive family and friends for a celebration of her life on September 12, 2015 at 4 p.m. at her residence.
