Judy Hickman Grindstaff

Judy Hickman Grindstaff, 73, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, at the Wexford House, Kingsport, following an extended illness.
She was born December 7, 1941 in Sullivan County to the late Robert and Doris Rose Hickman. She had lived the past 55 years in Carter County.
Judy was a homemaker. Her hobbies were knitting, cooking, reading and arts and crafts. Judy was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher of the Junior Boys.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcella Mullins and Nell Willis, and two brothers, Sam and Bob Hickman.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Glenn Grindstaff; a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Sherri Grindstaff, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Bryana, Landon and Sophie; a great-granddaughter, Alyssia; her step-grandchildren, Taylor Allen and Madison Lasiter; a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Brenda Hickman, Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and also a very special niece and caregiver, Pam Pippin.
Funeral services for Judy Hickman Grindstaff will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Foster and the Rev. Mark Willis officiating. Music will be provided by Amy Moore and Rev. David Foster. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 11, in the Grindstaff Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Wexford House for the excellent care she received during her stay there. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
