Marjorie Ward Pearson

Marjorie “Margie” Ward Pearson, age 85, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2015 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Margie was born on April 26, 1930 in Carter County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Clayton J. Ward and Mary Elizabeth Rainbolt Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Douglas Pearson; one son, Ken Pearson; four brothers, Tom, Frank, Ira, and Ed Ward; three sisters, Louise, Ruby and Bea; and three infant siblings.
Mrs. Pearson had worked in the cafeteria at Siam Elementary and was a member of Siam Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and “loving her grandchildren.”
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Marianne Odom and husband Allen, of Asheville, NC, Susan Rose and husband Sam, of Galax, VA, and Linda Carden and Greg Holtsclaw, of Elizabethton, TN; one son, Steve Pearson and wife Janice, of Elizabethton, TN; ten grandchildren, Chad Odom, Tammy Asiya Ali, Amber Horton, Holly Baker, Scott Pearson, Jayson Odom, Carrie Jenkins, Katie Rose, Callie Rose, and Andrew Pearson; two great grandchildren, Linsey and Gracie Jenkins; one brother, Carroll (Cog) Ward and wife Denise, of Elizabethton; one sister, Judy Mick and husband Bruce, Elizabethton; and one sister-in-law, Pat Ward, Gulf Port, MS. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Marjorie “Margie” Ward Pearson will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Butler Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Campbell, officiating. Friends and family may call at the residence at any time. Honorary pallbearers will be her neighbors: Lenny Ward and Ed Williams and her nephew, Keith Elliott and other nephews. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM on Sunday.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the charity of your choice, in honor of Margie.
