8th annual SALT fair to offer free screenings Tuesday

The eighth annual Health and Safety Fair, sponsored by Elizabethton/Carter County Seniors and Law Enforcement Together, will feature 41 booths and screenings on 9-11 a.m. Tuesday.
This free event will be held at 403 G St. in the Annex Building of the Health Department. Attendees are asked to park across the street at the church.
“It’s an opportunity for people to better their health by having access to free health information and screenings,” said SALT Council President Karen Mansfield.
Many more organizations are participatig this year and providing more screenings including bone density screenings by Mobile Imaging, hearing testing by Veterans Administration and a variety of health screenings by Msountain States Health Alliance. Other screenings will check memory, blood pressure and glucose.
Among the booths will be chiropractors, pharmacists, audiologists, insurance groups, assisted living and in-home care agencies, nutritionists, a makeup artist, breast cancer support group representatives, members of the Sheriff’s Department and Police Department, and dozens of others.
This will be a unique opportunity for community members to both monitor their health and to speak with a number of medical professionals. It is an open forum to compare, learn and make connections.
SALT Council meetings take place on the first Thursday of the month at the Elizabethton Senior Center at 12:30 p.m.
