In a case of a fable turned upside down, it is not the Big Bad Wolf who has been damaging a county neighborhood but rather, it is the three pigs.
On Sunday, officers of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department received complaints that three pigs were running wild and damaging property in Valley Forge.
A man who lives on Clay Little Road spoke with officers about the damage being caused by the animals.
“He said that sometime this morning three pigs had come on his property and destroyed his landscaping and yard,” CCDS Deputy Jason Mosier said, adding he saw the flower beds had been destroyed and several places in the yard had been dug up.
The man told the officer the pigs have been running loose for about a week but he did not know who the animals belonged to.
“While I was there, I observed the three pigs come back to his yard and begin digging it up again,” Mosier said. “The pigs then ran away as we approached them.”
Officers searched the area trying to find the pigs.
“While on extra patrol in the area, I was stopped by several subjects who said that there were three pigs in the area and no one knew of an owner,” CCSD Sgt. David Caldwell said. “The animals were causing property damage but could not be located at the time of my arrival.”
Officers contacted animal control regarding the pigs, and were told the county may have dog cages that would be large enough to catch the pigs.
The pigs reportedly remained at large at press time.
