Orpha Ellen Almany Putman

Orpha Ellen Almany Putman, 88, of Elizabethton, formerly of 507 Cottage Avenue in Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Orpha was born in Washington County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Carl William Almany and Flora Haney Almany. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Putman, on June 6, 2001; three sisters, Mary Sue Rose, Irene Snyder and Selma Almany Hartley; and one brother, Carl W. Almany Jr.
Orpha was a homemaker and a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Elizabethton. She loved her family and enjoyed listening to music.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Gregory Alan Putman and wife Glenda, of Elizabethton, and Chris Frank Putman, also of Elizabethton; one grandson, Frank Alan Putman and wife April, of Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Tate and Ella Putman; one step-brother, Larry Almany; her sisters-in-law, whom she loved just like her sisters, Salley Haywood, Martha Benzing and Charlotte Williams; and one brother-in-law, George Putnam. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Orpha Ellen Almany Putman will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, September 25, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Phillip Almany and Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence of her son, Greg, 507 Cottage Avenue, at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 26, at Monte Vista Memorial Park in Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be Phillip Almany, Jack Almany, Frank Putman, Johnny Hulse and John Hulse. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Hartley and Tate Wilder Putman. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 9:15 a.m. Saturday.
