Linda Faye Leonard, 61, of Blountville, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born August 14, 1954 in Bristol, Va., a daughter of the late Henry and Virgie Almaroad Chapman.
Linda lived most of her life in the Bristol area. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Sams Jr., and a sister, Dorothy Sue Greenway.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Leonard Sr.; daughter, Patty Hicks and husband Jay; son, Wayne Sams and wife Wendy; granddaughter, Lauren Hicks; grandson, Joshua Sams and wife Brooke; great-granddaughter, Emma Sams; brother, Henry David Chapman; sister, Shirley Leonard; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Sophie and Bella.
The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, October 2, at Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Dewayne Locklear and Pastor Eddie Crusenberry officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., prior to the service. The interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Campbell, Bill Ayers, Sonny Leonard, Curtis Rice, Donnie Salyers and Fred Taylor Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Sams, Bobby Shelton, Jess McGlothlin and Glenn Dale Stout. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her church family at New Hope Missionary Baptist, Dr. Sath Poobalasingham, Dr. Frederick Martin and the staff of CICU#2 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
