Heaven gained the most beautiful angel. Linda Sue Markland Russell, 65, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 12, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Carter County on January 14, 1950 to the late Orville and Temperence Hyder Markland.
Linda was retired from Leon-Ferenbach, Inc. She was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, sister and great-grandmother to ever walk the earth. Everyone who knew her loved her so much because of the amount of love she always gave in return. She was truly a remarkable lady and this world really lost a great woman.
Linda was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Cable and Sandie Campbell, and her sister-in-law, Donna Markland.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Russell, and they were to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary on November 7, 2015; three sons, Thomas Jr. and his wife Amy, Elizabethton, Christopher and his wife Tonya and Michael and his wife Emily, all of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Jordan Blake, Logan, Taylor, Trevor and Bailey Russell; two great-grandchildren, Aisley and Hailey; three brothers, Tom, Ricky and Raymond Markland; a sister, Goldie Lawson; a brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Russell; and a sister-in-law, Lorine Hopson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Linda Sue Markland Russell will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill McDaniel officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, October 16, at Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the ICU Staff, 2700 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center, members of the West Carter County Fire Department and members of the Carter County Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit other times with the family at her residence.
