There have been reports of individuals recently going door-to-door in residential areas claiming they are raising funds for an Elizabethton High School organization or cause. Because these residents were suspicious of the individuals’ claims, they called the school and learned that no such cause existed.
According to school officials, when students are participating in a legitimate fundraiser, they will have appropriate paperwork, and residents who are unsure may call the school at 423-547-8015 to verify.
“Students are told to go to people they know and trust,” said EHS Principal David Wright.
Students are discouraged from going door-to-door to strangers anytime they are raising money for a cause and encouraged to go to family members and neighbors, Wright added.
