Janice M. Nidiffer Orr, 70, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2015, from the Johnson City Medical Center, following a brief illness. Janice was born on March 20, 1945 in Carter County, the daughter of the late Wyley and Lourene Williams Nidiffer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Nidiffer, and two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Nidiffer and Joan Nidiffer.
Janice was a homemaker. She was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church and a former member of Southside Christian Church. She loved reading and shopping.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years, Eddy Orr, of the home; two daughters, Jonni Orr Dacanay and husband J.J., of Ashburn, Va., and Jessica Steffee and husband Geoffrey, of Cutler Bay, Fla.; four grandchildren, Judson, Wyleigh, Ace and Olive; and one brother, Roy Nidiffer, of Simerly Creek. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Janice M. Nidiffer Orr will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 18, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Shane Waters officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Joel Crisp. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be J.J. Dacanay, Geoffrey Steffee, Ronnie McCloud, Danny Blevins, Jeff Blevins and Frank Mohap. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Happy Valley Memorial Park at 10:50 a.m. Monday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church/Building Fund, 118 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, TN 37658.
