Students at Unaka Elementary School participated in their first annual Reading Fair this past week.
Students in 3rd through 8th grades created displays to present information from their favorite fictional books. Students’ displayed various books from classics such as Charlotte’s Web and War Horse, to more modern books such as the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Dolphin Tale 2, and A to Z Mysteries.
More than 100 projects were on display Thursday for students and staff. Parents and the community filled the gymnasium on Thursday night for the Reading Fair Showcase where students proudly showed off their hard work, enjoyed refreshments, and won door prizes.
The top 25 projects have been picked by their grade level teachers, and now the students at Unaka are asking you to pick the top three. If you would like to attend the Virtual Reading Fair to cast your vote, you can find it one of three ways: the Unaka Elementary School webpage, use your phone’s QR code scanner and scan the code, or navigate to tinyurl.com/UESReadingFair2015.
